Siddharth Satish shines the light on The Longest Day
Teenager creates international non-profit to support people living with Alzheimer's disease and other dementia.
The Alzheimer's Association Greater New Jersey Chapter, the leading volunteer-driven voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care, support, advocacy and research is spotlighting people who are making a difference in the fight to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia especially in June during Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month. With more than 5 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias, and more than 16 million family and friends providing care and support for them, individuals across the country are seeking ways to assist those afflicted with the disease. On June 20, many of them will be participating in The Longest Day. The event is held annually on the longest day of the year, the summer solstice, and is a day to raise awareness and funds to help end the disease.
Today we say “Thank You” to Siddharth Satish. For 15 year old Siddharth, the fight to end Alzheimer’s knows no borders. He created an entirely student led non-profit, Rememoirs, currently operating in India and close to 10 chapters across the U.S., with plans to expand around the globe. Funded in part by corporate sponsors, Rememoirs creates custom memory boxes for people with dementia. He got the idea after creating one for his own great grandfather who is living with Alzheimer’s.
