Successful day for PHS Jazz Bands at the National Jazz Festival

The inaugural National Jazz Festival took place on February 15, 2020 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia. Over 1200 High School and Middle School jazz band students from 43 schools across 11 States, including Puerto Rico, performed, competed and attended educational clinics.

Princeton High School band ensembles, vocalists and composers placed in the top three of their categories.

Large Ensemble 1: Princeton Studio Band 2nd: Outstanding Musician Irina Mukhametzhanova - Guitar
Large Ensemble 2: Jazz Ensemble 1st: Outstanding Musician Matt Cincotta – Tenor
Small Ensemble 1: Princeton Jazz Combo 3rd: Outstanding Musician Charles Kolosvary – Bari Sax
Small Ensemble 2: Princeton Combo Ensemble 1st: Superior Musician Ethan Blazer – Drummer
Vocal Jazz: Princeton Studio Vocals 2nd: Outstanding Musician Ashley Chen
Vocal Jazz Solo: Gillian Scott 1st, Molly Frain 2nd and Ayah Mahana 3rd, Ashley Chen 6th.
and in the Composition Category: Sudhansh Kumar 3rd.

The Princeton Jazz Bands are directed by Joe Bongiovi and Scott Grimaldi.

Come to the Big Band Jazz Night and International Food Tasting event on March 13, 2020 from 7pm to 10pm in the PHS Cafeteria to hear the award winning bands perform. Adults $10, Seniors and Students $5 (free with paying adult). All funds raised support the band program at the High School.
