Swearing-In Held For New Police Chief, Captain In Princeton
New police Chief Jonathan Bucchere and Captain Chris Tash were ceremonially sworn into office on Monday.

PRINCETON, NJ — On Monday, the Princeton Municipal Courtroom was filled with friends, family and well-wishers who came to show support for new police Chief Jonathan Bucchere and Captain Chris Tash. Bucchere and Tash were ceremonially sworn into office on Monday.
Bucchere takes over from Christopher Morgan who retired after more than 25 years of service.
After taking his oath, Bucchere thanked the Council for their leadership and support. “In this day and age, policing is evolving and changing every day. Without your support and guidance our job would be nearly impossible,” Bucchere said.

He thanked the men and women in his department for the work they do “day in and day out. “Each day to come to work you’re faced with new challenges – you take them head-on. You do a fantastic job and make us look great every day.”
Bucchere joined Princeton Borough police in 1999 and was promoted to sergeant in 2007. In 2016 he was promoted to lieutenant and was made captain in 2020.

Tash graduated from the Somerset County Police Academy and joined the Princeton Borough Police Department in 2000. He was promoted to sergeant in 2010 and to lieutenant in 2017.
He thanked his family, council and colleagues after taking the oath of office. “We get recognized consistently as one of the most premier, progressive police departments in the state and that’s a testament to all the hard work you do,” he said.
