Town, University Working on Princeton Bike Rental Program

The University launched a rental program at the Dinky Station in November.

In its continuing efforts to make Princeton a more bike-friendly town, municipal officials have entered into talks with officials at Princeton University for more opportunities for community members to rent and share bikes, the Princeton Packet reports.

In November, the University launched a bike rental program at the Dinky Station. Renters pay by the hour, and there are currently 10 bikes available, according to the report.

The town is looking to install five bike rental stations throughout Princeton, while the University would look to expand its current program, according to the report.

The town recently considered replacing street parking on Hamilton Avenue with a 5-foot bike lane.

Second reading on an ordinance that was to tackle the issue was tabled at the Feb. 24 council meeting, according to nj.com.
