Woman, 73, Killed In Princeton Apartment Fire: Police

Larisa Bartone was killed in Wednesday night's fire, police said on Thursday.

PRINCETON, NJ — A 73-year-old woman was killed during an apartment fire in Princeton Wednesday night, police said Thursday morning. Larisa Bartone was found deceased in her apartment when a fire broke out at the complex on Billie Ellis Lane just after 9 p.m. Wednesday night, according to the Princeton Police Department. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Additionally, 35 residents were displaced as a result of the fire at the 24-unit complex, police said. The American Red Cross and Princeton Human Services continued to assist the residents Thursday morning.

Donations can be dropped off at Trinity Church from Thursday, Dec. 28, through Saturday, Jan. 6, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day. The church is located at 33 Mercer Street in Princeton. Suggested donations include:

  • Blankets;
  • Gift cards to local restaurants;
  • Warm Clothes (jackets, hats, gloves, etc.);
  • Toiletry items;
  • Snacks;
  • Water; and
  • Dog and cat food.

Fire companies from Princeton, Lawrence, Lawrence Road Princeton Plasma Physics, Kingston, Princeton Junction, Hopewell Township, Montgomery, Rocky Hill Station 53 and Plainsboro responded to the scene, along with Princeton Police, Princeton First Aid & Rescue Squad, Signal 22 Canteen and Capital Health System Paramedics.
