
Jo Anne DeMaio, 87, of Red Bank, died July 7, 2011 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Jo Anne was born in Muskogee, Oka and resided in Shrewsbury and Fort Lee in North Jersey before moving to Red Bank 57 years ago. She was retired. She was an officemanager in the law firm of DeMaio & DeMaio nin Matawan. Jo Anne earned her BA and Ma degrees from the University of Texas at Austin. She taught music at the University of Arkansas. Jo Anne was a parishioner of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank, where she played the organ for many years and was also a member of the Renew Group. She participated in the ???Book Discussion Group, ScriStudy Group, Ministry of St. Ann and other groups at St. Anthon9y of Padua RC Church in Red Bankl. She was a former member of the Navesink Country Club, Middletown. She was a proud member of the Hole In One Club. In her civic activities, Jo Anne was a member of the League of Women Voters. Jo Anne was a proud supporter of Rutgers University sports, and was an avid sports fan. She delighted in sharing the lives of her family, children and grandchildren.
Jo Anne is predeceased by her parents, John Harry and Josephine (Conway) Pels and her husband, Vincent C. DeMaio. Surviving are hchildren Theresa J. DeMaio and her husband, Charles Turner of Washington, D.C., Deebbie Maxiewicz and Jacobson of Oakhurst, Dave DeMaio and his wife, Teri of Manahawkin, Andrew J. DeMaio and his wife, Deborah of Holmdel and Catharine M. O'Brien and her husband, Thomas of O'FallonMo; her brother, John Pels and sister, Elysabeth Hall both of Texas; her sister-in-law, Sadie DeMaio; 12 grandchildren, Tara, Shawn, Dan, Drew, Lucy, Kevin, Justin, Sally, Tyler, Summer, Katey and Forrest; and four great grandchildren, Aiden, Chole and She is also survived by nieces and Nephews acrosss the countyr.
A memorial gathering will be held from 4:00p.m. to 7:00pm. Sunday, July 10 at John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riversid Avenue. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. July 11 at St. Anthony of R.C. Chuch, Red Bank. Internment is private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be mad to Riverview Medical Center, Hospice Department, 1 Riverview Plaza, Red Bank, NJ 07701.
