Don't miss "The Light in the Library" and get ready for Halloween with the HHRS Middle School Admiral Players
Including contests and special character event!
Thursday, October 22nd is opening night for “The Light in the Library” presented by the Admiral Players of Henry Hudson Regional School (HHRS) Middle School. The show runs for three nights before closing on Sunday afternoon with a special Tea Party + performance. On Thursday evening, there is a Trunk & Treat contest before the show as well as a costume contest on Saturday night during intermission.
“Theatre is an important means of stimulating creativity. Theatre can make students aware of their world and about themselves. It can provide students with an outlet for emotions, thoughts, and dreams that they might not otherwise have means to express”, said Mrs. Maureen Sweeney, who has been the Theatre Arts teacher at HHRS for the past 16 years. In addition to crew and high school volunteers, Mrs. Maureen Sweeney has over 40 students from 7th, 8th and 9th grades participating in the play.
“The Light in the Library” was chosen because the storyline is a good fit for October and fall themes. The story includes a ghost in the library and popular characters from children’s books, lending itself perfectly. “This story has such an engaging and fun plot; I’m sure that families and students of all ages will enjoy seeing the Admiral Players this weekend! I know the audience will be amazed at how skillful and self confident these middle school-age students are; the Admiral Players have a history of professional, award-winning, performances and I’m very proud of their accomplishments and how hard they’ve worked these past few weeks,” stated principal, Lenore Kingsmore.
