The Community YMCA Aquarockets Swim Team Sees Success at Holiday Classic Meet

Congratulations to The Community YMCA’s Aquarockets, who competed at this year’s Holiday Classic XXVII Meet.  The meet was held at Rutgers University on December 13 – 15th. We are proud to announce the results for our top ten finishers:

10 & under: Isabella Erskine, 10, sixth in the 50 breast (39.09), ninth in the 200 free (2;25.66); Chris Hulsart, 10, fifth in the 50 breast (40.00); L.W. Mehl, 10, fourth in the 50 breast (39.86), ninth in the 50 back (29.86), ninth in the 200 free (2:19.52); Julia Nappi, 10, second in the 50 breast (36.95), second in the 100 breast (1:18.96), third in the 200 free (2:19.64), third in the 500 free (6:16.27), fourth in the 100 IM (1:13.35), eighth in the 100 free (1:06.03).

Ages 13-14: Celia Kottakis, 14, first in the 50 free (24.26), first in the 100 fly (58.08), first in the 200 IM (2:09.40), fourth in the 200 fly (2:11.81); Dimitri Maldonado, 14, second in the 100 fly (53.55), second in the 200 fly (1:59.50), seventh in the 100 free (51.13), tenth in the 50 free (23.43); Sidney Marjamaa, 14, seventh in the 100 breast (1:09.70), ninth in the 200 breast (2:27.97); Connor Wright, 14, fifth in the 200 back (2:00.31), seventh in the 500 free (4:55.18), seventh in the 100 back (56.41).

The Community YMCA Aquarockets is a competitive swim team that competes in the National YMCA Swimming and Diving, and the USA Swimming organizations.  The Y’s swim team consists of approximately 275 swimmers between the ages of 6-18, practicing in two locations, the Red Bank Family Health and Wellness Center and Camp Zehnder in Wall.  There are a variety of practice levels from the novices in Green to the nationally ranked swimmers in Senior 1.  The team is coached by full time and part time professional coaches, who are supported by both the Community YMCA Administration and Swim Team Parent Association.  For more information about the Aquarockets visit the team website at www.aquarockets.com
