BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Two people have died and three were hospitalized after suspected drug overdoses at a Fort Lee motel on Tuesday afternoon, prosecutors said.

The Fort Lee police responded to a rented room at the Skyview Motel — located near the George Washington Bridge — for a possible medical call around 1:41 p.m. on Tuesday, the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office said.

Five people "were in and out of consciousness and experiencing symptoms consistent with an overdose," prosecutors said.

The officers gave medical aid, including naloxone (sometimes known as Narcan).

Two people later died, and the rest were taken to a local hospital. The victims’ names are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

An investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Fort Lee Police Department under the direction of Chief Matthew Hintze.

No other information is available at this time, prosecutors said.
