NORTH JERSEY — There's still time to eat outside, so why not venture into the business district of a new North Jersey town?
While more than a dozen longtime local eateries have closed in the past three months, many new dining spots have opened as well, even a large waterfront venue.
Here are five that Patch covered just in July:
Clementina recently opened at 627 Valley Road in Montclair. The eatery features "modern Italian cuisine rooted in tradition." It took over the space that had been occupied by the century-old Saunders Hardware until 2024. Read more about Clementina here.
Cov
Cov opened in Edgewater on July 19, replacing the former Pier 115 eatery on the Hudson River. The location has both a culinary director and a beverage director, so you know the owners take food and drink seriously.
The restaurant, owned by the son of the owners of Blu on The Hudson in Weehawken, serves up sushi, pasta, and cocktails. Its indoor dining room and outdoor deck are both available for private events. Read more about it here.
FIG Rustic Italian Kitchen
Located at 71 East Mill Road in Long Valley, FIG Rustic Italian Kitchen is now open and ready to serve up authentic Italian eats. The menu draws from regions including Tuscany, Piedmont, Lombardy, and Veneto. Find out more here.
Humberto's in the Valley
The West Orange Chamber of Commerce held a public ribbon-cutting for Humberto's in the Valley on July 18. It serves half-pound Angus burgers, breakfast items, sandwiches, desserts, and unique offerings like the World Cup Grilled Chicken Sandwich (Peruvian-style chicken, Mexican avocado, roasted jalapeños, and local New Jersey tomatoes). OddFellows Ice Cream
OddFellows Ice Cream recently opened a location in Montclair and then followed up last month in Hoboken. The growing chain features unique flavors like salted caramel toffee and miso cherry. They also feature vegan flavors. They're located at 53 First St., a walk of a few blocks from the Hoboken Train Terminal. Find out more here.
