Firefighter Brendan Corcoran To Be Honored For World-Record Run
Corcoran set a new world record for running a mile in firefighter gear at the Fred d'Ella Memorial Day Run.

Brendan Corcoran will be honored at a Village Council meeting Wednesday for setting a new world record.
Assemblyman David Russo will recognize Corcoran’s accomplishment at the meeting.
Corocran set a new world record for running a mile in firefighter gear. He clocked in at 6 minutes and 45 seconds. The previous record was 7 minutes and 58 seconds.

The gear weights 25 pounds and the boots alone weigh 7 pounds.
“It’s the extra weight on your feet, that’s the tough part,” Corcoran said. “The gear really hugs you and it doesn’t give you much room to breathe and it holds everything in.”
