Glen Rock Christmas Tree Lighting Goes Virtual
The tree lighting is just one of a collection of holiday festivities happening in the Glen Rock area this weekend.
GLEN ROCK, NJ — Holiday festivities in Glen Rock will look a little different this year, but, unlike some other cities and towns across the state, township officials won't cancel them outright.
On Saturday, the township will host a virtual Christmas tree lighting ceremony, which will be broadcast on GRTV, and on YouTube.
The lighting is scheduled for 5 p.m., the Borough announced Wednesday.

In neighboring Ridgewood, the "Downtown for the Holidays" event has a revised plan, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Currently, the event is scheduled for Dec. 4 from 6 p.m to 8 p.m. Streets will not be closed, so there will be no fire truck or trackless train, they announced.

The Village Christmas tree will be located at the corner of East Ridgewood Avenue and Broad Street, which will be glowing with lights. A walk through Memorial Park at Van Neste Square can start with a look at the tree, and a walk through the decorated pedestrian tunnel at the train tracks to see the tree at Station Plaza.
Both of these trees will be decorated with festive ornaments donated by residents, businesses, groups, and organizations, the Village said.

These events will be hosted virtually following Governor Phil Murphy's executive order limiting gatherings to 25 people or less.
Executive Order 204, signed by Murphy on Monday night, specifically lowers the outdoor gathering limit for social gatherings from 150 people to 25 people, effective this coming Monday at 6 a.m.
Murphy clarified some stipulations of the executive order this week as he continued to urge residents to be diligent.
"This pandemic is nowhere near over," Murphy said. "We can't give up the fight now. Mask up. Social distance. Wash your hands."
The clarification comes just as New Jersey on Thursday had its highest number of cases ever in one day: 4,913. Sixty-four more deaths were reported.
