On Patch's Facebook page, readers shared these memories:

  • "Oh no! Town should try to buy it & make it into something special or mayb a movie playhouse for old movies or plays."
  • "That’s where I saw On Golden Pond!" (Editor's Note: That would have been in 1981.)
  • "I spent most Saturdays in my youth waiting on line for the matinee. Lots of candy, 2 films, previews & sometimes a newsreel or cartoon."
  • "My friends and I used to go there often when I lived in Glen Rock."
  • "Went to this theater on a first date."

During the dawn of Hollywood, major film studios like Warner built grand movie halls to show only their productions. Just a handful of those historic theaters remain, including in Ridgewood.
