Police Looking For Ridgewood Burglary Suspect

James Rainsford wanted in connection with burglaries in several Bergen County municipalities.

Several police departments are looking for a man they said is a suspect in Ridgewood burglaries.

Allendale police received a call shortly before 12:30 a.m. July 17 regarding a burglary. Officers viewed security camera footage of a white male with long hair entering the home but leaving quickly on a bicycle after an alarm was activated, authorities said.

Police identified the man, James Rainsford, 47, a homeless man authorities say lives in or near Paterson.

Rainsford is wanted in connection with burglaries in Ridgewood, Allendale, Closter, Norwood, and Ramsey.

Detective Capt. Forest Lyons of the Ridgewood Police Department could not be reached for comment.

Ridgewood police said money was taken from two village homes in overnight burglaries earlier this month. Money was taken from both homes, police said.
