Ridgewood Back The Blue Rally Will Be Met By Counter-Protest
News of a "Back the Blue" rally spread quickly between Bergen County activists who have organized a weekend of protests for Breonna Taylor.
RIDGEWOOD, NJ — A "Back the Blue" rally will be met with a counter-protest in Ridgewood after swift condemnation from local activists.
The event, posted to Facebook, is billed as a combination "Pro Trump/Back the Blue" demonstration, and will take place at the Park & Ride on Route 17.
In response to the event, Ramsey Alliance for Social Equity organized a counterprotest, which was quickly promoted by Ridgewood for Black Liberation.

The two sides can serve as proxies for the greater cultural debate happening around the Black Lives Matter movement.
Organizers of the "Back the Blue" rally stated their stance through a photograph posted to the event page.

An American flag is overlaid with text, which reads "I will not apologize for it. It doesn't stand for color."
Alternatively, activist groups have come to know these rallies as safe spaces for far right groups like the Proud Boys, whose supporters were at a similar rally this summer in Fair Lawn.
Ridgewood for Black Liberation, in an Instagram post, called the event a "fascist, white supremacist rally."
This counter-protest comes amid a call from New Jersey activists to turn out at rallies, protests and vigils across the region this weekend, days after an indictment in the Breonna Taylor case.
Various Bergen County anti-racist activist groups have been promoting rallies and events, which include a Ridgefield Park protest, the aforementioned counterprotest in Ridgewood, and the first edition of the Kemet Music and Arts Festival in Jersey City.
Below are some of the events happening in New Jersey this weekend:
View this post on InstagramI want to see ALL of Jersey show up! Let's Do This! That Rat AG in Louisville did everyone dirty. He didn't even present a murder charge to the Grand Jury. The indictment didn't even mention Breonna's name! For God's sake!!! How twisted and evil. The wanton charges are for shots into a room that killed no one. NO ONE. And 'No One' is more valuable than BREONNA TAYLOR??? The voice of the people WILL be heard. 2moro. Show up. Bring 2 friends. Masks on. High energy. The voice of the people will be Heard!!! #justiceforbreonnataylor
