A Ridgewood man has been arrested and charged after allegedly pulling out a knife on Ridgewood police.

Village police officers arrived at the Chestnut Street home of 55-year-old James Brown Tuesday afternoon and determined he needed to go to the hospital for further evaluation, Chief John Ward said.

But although Brown calmed down and said he would comply, he pulled out a knife on the police officers ”and a brief struggle ensued.” The officers were able to quickly subdue Brown, remove the knife from his hand and place him under arrest.
