Ridgewood Superintendent Will Resign After 12 Years
Superintendent Daniel Fishbein is resigning after 12 years in the role. The Board of Education will vote on the matter at a Monday meeting.
RIDGEWOOD, NJ — After 12 years at the helm of Ridgewood Public Schools, Superintendent Daniel Fishbein will leave the role, effective Dec. 10.
In a letter to the school community Friday, Fishbein announced the decision, and the resignation for the purpose of retirement will be voted on during a Monday Board of Education meeting.
"The past six months have tested all of us in extraordinary ways, and I am honored and proud to have been at the helm of this district as we navigated such a challenging time," he wrote.

"While my dedication to the district remains steadfast, I have made the difficult decision to announce my retirement resignation."
A rally is scheduled for Monday night outside the Ridgewood Ed Center, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Those rallying are anticipated to include members of the Ridgewood Administrators’ Association, the Ridgewood Education Association, community leaders, parents, and students.
The district's business administrator, Antoinette Kelly, resigned in July, effective Dec. 1.
