Ridgewood's Charlotte Samuels Raises Money for 'Citizens for Swimming'

The 16-year-old swimmer asked for donations for the program, which teaches Paterson youths how to swim during the summer in Ridgewood.

Charlotte Samuels is at it again.

The 16-year-old high school junior, who became the youngest person to complete the Triple Crown of open-water swimming in September, turned a celebration for her success into a fundraiser to help Paterson children learn how to swim.

The Samuels invited more than 150 guests to their Ridgewood home Sunday to thank people for their support, NorthJersey.com reported.

But Samuels didn’t stop there.

The Samuels’ also asked for donations for Citizens for Swimming, a program that teaches Paterson youths how to swim at Ridgewood’s Graydon Pool during the summer.

Samuels’ event raised more than $1,500 for Citizens for Swimming, according to a tally of in-person and online donations, NorthJersey.com reported.

Citizen for Swimming is a partnership of the Unitarian Society of Ridgewood and Paterson’s Community Association with a Ministry to People Youth Development Program, according to NorthJersey.com. Both work with the Ridgewood YMCA, which provides the swimming lessons.
