Ridgewood's Kelsey O'Brien Film 'Enchantments' To Win Best Picture At Film Festival

O'Brien produced, directed, and stars in the film, which is loosely based on Jane Austin's 'Emma.'

Kelsey O’Brien believes in magic. The Ridgewood native is showing others the magic she has both in front of and behind the camera.

O’Brien’s film “Enchantments” will receive the Best Picture Award at the Ridgewood Guild’s International Film Festival. The romantic comedy is loosely based on Jane Austin’s “Emma.” Emma, named Emmie in the film, is a Wiccan who works in a New York City magic shop who is obsessed with pop culture.

“It’s a shiny, happy, campy love story like you’ve never seen before,” O’Brien said. “There are no special effects or fake magic in this movie, but I do believe that there is magic in the world.”

O’Brien wrote, produced, and directed the film.

“As much as I love romantic comedies, I was sick of seeing the same people always in them,” O’Brien said. “Love is love. It doesn’t matter how or who you love as long as it’s true.”
