Fair Haven Board of Education has three seats up for grabs

The Fair Haven Board of Education has three seats up for election. Two of the current BOE members, Cathy Alescio and Katy Frissora, are not running for re-election. The third seat is being vacated by Bennett Coleman. Ms. Coleman was selected to replace resigned member Elaine Lehnert this September, and her term expires in December of this year. Three candidates have been hard at work campaigning for these spots. Jen Halcrow, Bruce Padula and Karen Saad participated in a ”Meet the Candidates” night on October 21st, sponsored by the League of Women Voters, that was well attended by Fair Haven residents. After introductions, the audience was able to submit questions to the candidates, each of whom had an opportunity to respond. The candidates also held a meet-and-greet event at Booskerdoo, the local coffee shop this past Friday morning. A fourth candidate, Jessica Patel, submitted a letter to the BOE office in early October announcing that she was withdrawing from consideration for a seat on the Board. The letter was posted on the school district’s website. Her name will remain on the ballot as the deadline to remove it has passed.
