Fair Haven Man Arrested For Aggravated Assault Against Police: Police
UPDATED: Police said the 23-year-old took off running during a traffic stop before striking two police officers.

FAIR HAVEN, NJ— A Fair Haven man was arrested over the weekend for aggravated assault of two police officers and drug posession, Fair Haven police said.
JonMichael Puryear, 23, was pulled over by police for a traffic violation on Harding Road. During the stop, Puryear took off on foot, and was later apprehended by two officers.
During the arrest, Puryear headbutted and struck two officers with closed fists while they were trying to arrest him. Two officers were injured in the assault.

Police found a pound of marijuana in Puryear's car, as well as glassine baggies. He had $2,700 in cash in the car.
He was charged with Eluding, Aggravated Assault, Possession of Over 50g of Marijuana and Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Distribution within a school zone, Failure to Observe a Traffic Signal and Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in a Motor Vehicle.

He is currently being held on $55,000 bail.
