Fake Verizon Employee Knocking on Rumson Doors

A suspicious man has been knocking on doors in town, identifying himself as a Verizon employee, Rumson police said.

Rumson, NJ - Several residents told the Rumson police that a suspicious man has been knocking on doors in town, identifying himself as a Verizon employee.

The man wears a Verizon hat and shirt, police said, and asks residents if they would answer some questions related to service. Verizon was contacted and advised that they had no personnel in the area that would be knocking on doors. Little Silver residents have also reported a similar man knocking on their doors this week.

Residents are advised to contact the Rumson police at 732-842-0500 should they see any such activity. A real employee will have proper identification and usually a vehicle clearly marked with the utility. If unsure, do NOT let anyone into your home, police said.
