GMO News – Kristen Bell Saving Lives Through Food
The actress Kristen Bell has joined forces with a company that makes snack bars, and for every bar sold ships a packet to a starving child

The actress and social justice activist, Kristen Bell, has recently joined forces with an organization that makes GMO free snack bars called This Bar Saves Lives. The sales of the bars literally save lives due to the social justice component where each bar sold provides a packet of food for a starving child.
The packet delivers nutrient rich sustenance to children living in some of the most impoverished and food insecure places in the Developing World. The other partners in this organization also have acting, television, or film related backgrounds but were compelled by the situation in Africa to take some positive actions to attempt to improve the conditions for children living in horrible conditions.
The nutritional packets have shown demonstrated results in helping children that are malnourished gain weight and become healthier children in the process. The project started with children in Liberia in western Africa. The group understood that in order to make an impact on a large scale with the incredible need for help for these children was to take a different approach.

The approach is what makes this particular project unique. The distribution of the nutrient rich packets are tied to an incentive for the Western consumer: a GMO-free snack bar. The GMO-free trend is one of the hottest consumer movements in the food industry at this point. The consciousness of the consumer is that the presence of GMO containing ingredients is harmful on a series of levels.
The major food production companies in the U.S. have taken a hit recently with the labeling changes that list if a food contains genetically engineered ingredients. The backlash against GMOs positions this snack bar in a unique value proposition because it is good for you to consumer, and it also ensures that a child in Africa is going to get the nutrition they need to survive.

The campaign combines healthy food choices with a humanitarian, global stewardship aspect which is a truly innovative concept. The harsh reality is that every twelve seconds a child dies of severe acute malnutrition, which is about 2.6 million children each year. That is a sobering and disturbing statistic and it must be reversed to save the lives of children in need. This campaign allows us to reverse this terrible trend.
The company works with world class reputable partner organizations to distribute the nutritional packets to children in need in Developing World areas such as: Haiti, Nepal, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Guatemala, and the Philippines. The organizations have distribution in over 70 countries. The nutrient packet used was featured by Anderson Cooper in a televised report. It is highly effective in bringing children from the brink of starvation to a healthy future.
The company is also working on the development of a domestic operation to help children with food insecurity in the United States. The reality is that many children in this country go to bed hungry as well. This could be a way to give to many different populations of children in need.
The bars are available at Target, Whole Foods, and on their online store. The bars are available in Starbucks in California only at this point. The bars are gluten free, kosher certified, and are made with 100% natural ingredients. They also produce a "kids bar" so that children can help other children in need.
Please consider supporting This Bar Can Save Lives in order to make an impact on the lives of starving children throughout the world. This model allows the consumer to really make a difference in the lives of those in need.
