Great Horned Owls Presentation April 11 At Monmouth Audubon

Amateur naturalist and photographer Pamela Dimeler will present her program, "My Journey With a Pair of Great Horned Owls." 8 p.m.

FAIR HAVEN, NJ — Amateur naturalist and photographer Pamela Dimeler will present her program, “My Journey With a Pair of Great Horned Owls,” at the meeting of the Monmouth County Audubon Society, Wednesday, April 11, at 8:00 p.m.

The meeting will be held at the Knights of Columbus hall, 200 Fair Haven Road, Fair Haven. The public is welcome; admission is free. Pamela Dimeler is an amateur naturalist, photographer and videographer. She has been observing the activities of a pair of Great Horned Owls for three years and has studied and documented their various behaviors.

“King Tuft” and “Queen Athena” reside in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, and their territory includes nearby Indian Orchard Park other neighboring woods and forests. Pam will share her observations through her photography and video clips, including examples of preening, flying, stretching, gular fluttering, mating and even hooting duets between the pair. Pam lives in Delaware County, Penn., and she owns the Parkside Academy of Music and Dance, located in Parkside, PA.

The program promises an intimate glimpse into one of nature’s most secretive birds.

The Monmouth County Audubon Society, a chapter of the National Audubon Society, is dedicated to the enjoyment and study of nature, wildlife conservation, habitat protection, and education. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month September through May at the Knights of Columbus hall, 200 Fair Haven Road, Fair Haven; guest speakers address a wide variety of nature-related topics, and refreshments are provided. In addition, the group sponsors at least one field trip per month, and members receive The Osprey, the club’s bi-monthly newsletter.
