Holy Cross School Among the Best in Math Contest
8th Grade Team Competes in Annual Math Contest at CBA

RUMSON, NJ--Once a year, Holy Cross School in Rumson forms a team of eight Eighth Grade students to compete in the Annual Math Contest held at Christian Brothers Academy in Lincroft. In October, 230 students from 29 schools participated in the event in which Holy Cross won a 5th Place trophy in the Private School Division.
“Every day we tackle two problems similar to the algebra and geometry questions they will face in the competition,” explained Kathy Chadwick who teaches Advanced Math. “The students who get the most correct answers by the time we enter the contest, make the team.” Ashley Morin (Oceanport) earned a personal Certificate of Achievement for being the top scorer on the Holy Cross team composed of JP Memon (Middletown), Cole Ramos (Rumson), Seeger Zou (Middletown). Justin Durney (Rumson), PJ DiPaolo (Fair Haven), Emma Scales (Red Bank), and Grace Kenney (Rumson).
The next competition, part of MathCounts, an innovative after school math enrichment program offered at Holy Cross, comes in February when Holy Cross students in grades 6 through 8 will compete with students from schools throughout New Jersey.
