Still Time To Nominate Historic Properties For Rumson Award

The Rumson Historic Preservation Commission will be accepting nominations through July 31 for the 2022 Historic Preservation Award.

RUMSON, NJ—The Rumson Historic Preservation Commission reminds residents that this is a the last week it will be accepting nominations the 2022 Historic Preservation Award. the nominations must be made by July 31.

For a historic property to be eligible, it must be listed on the Borough's Historic Properties website, said Charles F. Shay, chairman of the Rumson Historic Preservation Commission, in a news release on the borough's website.

The award may be given either in recognition of recent work undertaken or of a long-standing commitment to preservation. Properties are judged on the basis of exterior appearance only.

You may nominate your home or nominate the home of your neighbor. If nominating a property other than your own, you must get the owners permission prior to submitting. The nomination form and award program details are available on the preservation committee's website.
Winners will be announced in the fall.

The Rumson Historic Preservation Commission was formed for the purpose of identifying and assisting in the preservation of the many important properties, homes, landmarks and sites in the Borough, according to the borough website.

"In an effort to preserve the special character of our town, our goal is to be a valuable resource for the owners of historic homes and properties, to act in an advisory capacity for property owners going through the application for development process, to educate the public, to give advice to the Borough Council and the Planning and Zoning Boards and to recognize those in our community that embody the spirit of Historic Preservation," according to a statement.
