Woman Stole People's Mail In Rumson, Police Say

A Newark woman was arrested in January and charged with stealing 25 pieces of mail from Rumson residents over the past month, police said.

RUMSON, NJ — If you noticed mail missing from your mailbox in Rumson, she may be the reason why, police say.

A Newark woman was arrested in January and charged with stealing 25 pieces of mail from Rumson residents over the past month.

Michele De Araujo, 35, of Newark was arrested on Jan. 25 by Patrolman Michael Berger. When she was arrested, she was found to be in possession of multiple pieces of mail from multiple Rumson residents, police said.

She was charged with 25 counts of theft by deception. She was also wanted on an outstanding, out-of-town warrant.
