Victim In Fatal Union County Shooting Identified

A $10,000 reward is being offered for any information leading to an arrest and indictment in the Plainfield shooting: prosecutor

PLAINFIELD, NJ — A Plainfield man is dead and two others are injured following a shooting late Wednesday evening, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park announced Thursday.

Marcus Ellis, 25, has been identified as the deceased victim.

Plainfield Police Division patrol units responded to reports of gunshots being fired in the 700 block of Hillside Avenue at approximately 11 p.m. Wednesday.

On arrival police found Ellis and one other shooting victim, a 26-year- old male, at the scene. Both men were transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where Ellis was pronounced dead shortly after 11:45 p.m., according to Park.

A third shooting victim had driven himself to the Muhlenberg emergency room in Plainfield. Police then transported the 30-year-old male to Robert Wood Johnson for treatment.

He and the other surviving shooting victim both suffered what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

This incident remains under joint investigation by the Union County Homicide Task Force, Plainfield Police Division, Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, and Union County Police Department Ballistics Unit.
