Alleged Home Burglar Climbed Through Window In Fanwood

A car stolen from the Fanwood home was found later that day in North Plainfield with a suspect seen running away from the car: police.

FANWOOD, NJ — Fanwood Police are investigating a home burglary in which the alleged burglar climbed into through a side window.

The burglary was reported in the 30 block of Watson Road sometime between April 13 from 10 p.m. and 9 a.m on April 14.

Entry was made by climbing through a side window and physical evidence was recovered at the scene and is being processed, Fanwood Police Chief Richard Trigo reported.

At 10:54 a.m. on April 14, North Plainfield received a report of suspicious activity on Richard Way in town. A blue Honda Civic was "hurriedly" parked in the 400 block of Richard Way and the driver was seen running away from the car towards Leland Avenue, North Plainfield police report.

It was found that the Honda Civic was stolen during the Fanwood burglary earlier that day. The driver is described as a black male in his late teens to early 20's with a short cut Afro style haircut and wearing jeans and a light colored shirt, police report.

Fanwood Police responded to North Plainfield and took custody of the car for forensic processing. They are actively investigating this.
