• Valairco Cares Donates $500 to Immaculate Heart of Mary Food Pantry in Scotch Plains (tapinto.net) — Immaculate Heart of Mary's food pantry on South Martine Avenue in Scotch Plains just received a $500 boost from Valairco Cares, helping it serve hundreds of local families each month. The pantry runs weekly distributions, welcomes student and adult volunteers, and accepts food and monetary donations daily, giving Scotch Plains residents many concrete ways to support neighbors facing food insecurity.
• Local Restaurant Owners and Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School Alumni Donate Outdoor Seating for School Courtyard (tapinto.net) — Students at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School returned to find their central courtyard transformed with 40 new picnic tables donated by Darby Road owners and SPFHS alumni Joe Mortarulo and John Brandli. The added seating will support a new outdoor lunch option and flexible class space, giving local teens more fresh-air time during the school day and strengthening ties between the restaurant and the community.
• IHM Parish in Scotch Plains Donates 300+ Backpacks to Foster Children in Union County (tapinto.net) — Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Scotch Plains teamed up with Kindness 4 Kids and local pub Darby Road to provide more than 300 personalized, supply-filled backpacks for foster children across Union County. Donations poured in through early September, ensuring kids started school prepared, and organizers are inviting residents to plug into future IHM outreach efforts.
