Scotch Plains is a predominantly residential town. Our Master Plan is concrete evidence of that. Our Master Plan discourages commercial intrusion into our residential areas. In the past several years residents have vigilantly worked to protect our neighbors from commercial development of our residential areas. Recently, these assaults on our residential character has been turned away from the likes of WAWA and ASHBROOK NURSING HOME. This attack continues. We must again be more vigilant than ever to stop it.
Now, Painfield Gas Realty LLC has applied for an amended site plan approval to replace the previously approved 7-11 and gas station with a Dunkin Donuts drive-thru and sit down store at the corner of Hetfield and North Avenue. Please attend this meeting on April 6, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. to oppose this impermissible attack on the residential character of our town and neighbors. The Zoning Board should not have approved this commercial site in this residential zone and just because we're stuck with it does not mean we need to make it worse and more intense. Come to the hearing and be heard. Tell the Board to vote no on this proposed expansion. The last thing this town needs is a drive-through Dunkin Donuts at the base of the Hetfield bridge. See you there! Marc J. Rogoff
