Cub Scouts Go Green in Green Forest Park

As an Earth Day event, the scouts from Evergreen Elementary School spent time cleaning up trash from their local park

Earth Day is a one-day event for the rest of the world, but the Boy Scouts of America has been tending to the planet since the organization’s inception. Guided by “Leave No Trace” principles, Scouts show respect for wildlife and wilderness everyday and are encouraged to protect the environment in all of its programs. Being a good steward of the environment is a core value of Scouting.

Scouts from Pack 34 spent a recent evening in Green Forest Park picking up trash and learning about the impacts they make on their environment.

The park contains playgrounds, tennis courts, and a picnic area, and is only two blocks from many of the scouts school, Evergreen Elementary,

The Watchung Shop Rite supermarket in provided the pack trash bags for the pick-up project.
