The Scotch Plains Fanwood Scholarship Foundation (Foundation) announces the second phase of our Dollars for Students campaign. On Saturday April 22nd and Sunday April 23rd high school students who have applied to the Foundation for scholarship assistance will knock on doors in their neighborhoods to ask the community for their support in reaching the Foundation’s goal of raising $25,000 to fund scholarships to be given in 2017. Students will also collect donations outside area businesses.
The Foundation has been distributing scholarship assistance to area youth for the past 50 years, awarding $2,925,477 in scholarship aid to 2,844 students. Last year, with the community’s assistance, the Foundation was able to award scholarships totaling $142,860 in scholarship aid to 95 students, whose applications were reviewed by our broad-based screening committee. In 2017, 150 students have applied for scholarship assistance.

Mary Ball Cappio, President of the Foundation, states “For over fifty years our community has partnered with the Foundation to financially assist our students, sending them off to college knowing that their community cares and stands with them. We rely on our community to enable us to serve Scotch Plains and Fanwood students.”
Contributions are fully tax-deductible and the funds raised will be used to aid high school and college students in achieving their higher education goals. If a resident is not contacted in person or does not find an envelope left by a student, they may send their donation to the Scotch Plains Fanwood Scholarship Foundation, PO Box 123, Fanwood, New Jersey 07023 or may donate on our website, www.spfscholarshipfoundation.org.
In addition to its fundraising efforts, the Foundation administers scholarships sponsored by 25 local individuals and organizations, as well as administering the capital of 18 established scholarship funds.
