Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA Swim Team Hosts Second Annual Piranha-Thon

The Fanwood Scotch Plains YMCA is currently running their Annual Campaign to raise funds to enable local families to participate in YMCA memberships, programs, child care and day camps, regardless of their ability to pay. The FSPY Swim Team is currently hosting their second Annual Piranha-thon to help support the YMCA’s Annual Campaign as well as raise funds for the swim team.

Swim Team members from all levels and ages are participating in the Piranha-Thon. So, if you know a swimmer, please consider donating to their effort.

But wait… there’s more! The Piranha-thon is open to the community for any swimmers out there, not just the swim team. So, if you are a swimmer, please consider joining the effort!

• Gather your pledges: Once you have created your page, participants can forward their campaign link, share on social media, etc. to easily gather pledges from friends and family to support your campaign. Donors can pledge any flat amount, or pledge to pay per lap swum. For example, if a donor pledges $1.00 per lap, and you end up swimming 50 laps, that would amount to a $50 donation to the campaign.
• Swim! - Non-swim team members can swim and record their laps anytime this week, May 12-18th during lap swim. FSPY Swim Team will be swimming their laps on Saturday, May 17th.

Last year, our inaugural Piranha-thon exceeded our goal of $15,000 and raised over $19,000. The team swam 8398 laps! We hope that the FSPY community joins our swim team to try to meet or exceed last year’s performance. Please jump into the pool this week and help us raise money towards the YMCA’s Annual Campaign. Community members, 18 and over, who do not have a current Y membership, must show a government-issued photo ID and sign a guest waiver to participate.
