Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA Triathletes Compete in IRONMAN
Event included a 1.2 mile open water swim, 112 mile bike ride and 13.1 mile run
On Sunday September 23, eight members of the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA Triathlon Club competed in the IRONMAN 70.3 Atlantic City event, which included a 1.2 mile open water swim, 112 mile bike ride, and 13.1 mile run.
Individual member John Baliko finished an impressive 11th out of 105 in his age group, with an overall time of 5:20.46, while Ron Sta Rosa battled a tough ride in the rain and after a minor spill, rallied to finish in 7:35.54.
Relay Team ‘FSPY Mixed’ finished 2nd out of 85 teams, with Aaron Moore (swim), Gary Dunchus (bike) and Bridget Sherratt (run).

Team ‘FSPY Women,’ all newcomers to the distance, finished a strong 59th/84 with Lucinda Hittle (swim), Queenie Benedicto (bike) and Laura Lang (run).
The FSPY Tri-Club is a group of adults coached by Sherratt, a USAT Certified Coach and three-time TEAM USA World Championship Qualifier. Weekly swim, bike and run workouts are offered, as well as individual training plans. Sherratt focuses on safe, effective training and fun group comradery.
