Fanwood Teen Claims Robbery At Gunpoint During Fake Drug Deal: Police

The Fanwood teen and two other teens were arrested as a result of the fake marijuana deal: police

FANWOOD, NJ – A Fanwood teenager was arrested after she claimed she was robbed at gunpoint by two West Orange teens during a fake marijuana deal, according to authorities.

Madison McBride, 18, of Fanwood is charged with loitering to obtain a controlled substance after her allegations were deemed to be unfounded.

McBride called the West Orange police just before 5 p.m. on Sept. 11 to the area Gilbert Place where she claimed two men brandished a handgun and robbed her of about $70, according to police.

Despite her claim, an 18-year-old New Providence man, whose car McBride drove to the township to buy the drugs, disagreed.

The man told police he didn't know about any robbery and that he had remained in the car and did not see a handgun, according to police.

Through the investigation, it was discovered the two West Orange teenagers, Daniel Farese, 19 and Joshua Eng, 18, reportedly sold the fake marijuana in a pre-arranged drug deal with McBride and two other teens.

Both teens were charged with distribution of imitation CDS and theft by deception.

Farese was arrested and released on $5,000 bail. Eng was arrested and released on his own recognizance.
