On Saturday, May 17th, FSPY’s swim team, the Piranhas, gathered together for the 2nd Annual Piranha-Thon to raise money for both the Y’s Annual Campaign and the swim team. Swimmers of all ages (and even some community members!) were sponsored by friends and family who pledged a dollar amount for each lap swam. 61 swimmers participated and swam a total of 8506 laps to raise $19,329, which far exceeded their goal of $15,000! FSPY’s Annual Campaign provides the ability for children and families to participate in YMCA memberships, programs, including child care, swim lessons, summer day camp and more, regardless of their ability to pay.

Head Coach, Chris Karelus, stated, “Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, counted, or helped out with the event. The money we raised will have a significant impact on those who need it, as well as help our swim team fundraising.”
