High Speed Chase Of Stolen Car From Scotch Plains Reported
Multiple car burglaries have been reported recently in the township, according to the Scotch Plains Police blotter.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — A high-speed police chase from Scotch Plains into Mountainside resulted in the discovery of two stolen cars in the township, police reported.
On March 31 at around 3:10 a.m., Patrolman Dave Belford saw a 2018 Chevy Traverse driving at a high rate of speed in the area of Hetfield Avenue. When he tried to stop the vehicle it fled and a pursuit began, Scotch Plains Police reported.
Police ended the chase on Route 22 east in Mountainside.

The vehicle was found to have been registered to a resident on White Oak Road and was stolen just before to the pursuit, police reported.
The vehicle was later found in New York City a few hours later.

During this investigation, officers went to a neighbor’s house on White Oak Road for a reported car burglary. Both incidents under investigation.
Multiple other car thefts and burglaries were also reported recently in the township:
On March 20: The management at Enterprise Rental located at 2046 Rt. 22 reported the theft of a tailgate from a 2018 Chevy Silverado. The theft occurred sometime overnight.
On March 23: A resident in the 1200 block of Woodside Road reported a burglary. The victim saw a white SUV pull up in front of his home occupied by two black men. One of the men exited the vehicle and entered the victim’s vehicle which was parked in the driveway. The suspects fled the area when the victim exited his home. Under investigation.
On March 27: A resident on Robin Lane reported the theft of their 2013 BMW 328 sometime overnight. The vehicle was recovered in Newark the next day.
