Man Killed In Union County House Fire

An adult male was found unconscious on the first floor of the home located in the 1200 block of Lansdowne Terrace in Plainfield

Plainfield, NJ -- A fatal fire broke out early Sunday morning in Plainfield that resulted in the death of one man, Plainfield Police report.

Fire, police and EMS responded around 2 a.m. to the 1200 block of Lansdowne Terrace where a single-family home was ablaze.

"Heavy fire" on the second floor of a two-and-a-half story frame home was reported by emergency responders.

An adult male was found unconscious on the first floor of the home during a search of the building before it was controlled.

The man was transported to an area hospital but reportedly succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, police report.

The house is uninhabitable and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
