“The Many Lives of Tom Kranz” presented on November 18th in Fanwood

Tom Kranz will be speaking to the November 18th regular meeting of the College Club of Fanwood and Scotch Plains at 730 pm at Mira Vie 295 South Avenue in Fanwood. The event is free and open to the public. The College Club, currently celebrating its 91st year, awards scholarships annually to local women.

Tom is a Philadelphia native whose 40-years in journalism include radio, television, print and online platforms. He holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Temple University. He was a New Jersey certified EMT from 1999 to 2021 and served as a volunteer EMT on the Fanwood Rescue Squad answering more than 3,000 calls. He is still a certified CPR instructor and a life member of the squad.

From 1992 to 2007 he was a producer and senior producer at CBS News. After retiring from the TV news business in 2007, he spent 12 years as director of communications for Chelsea Senior Living and two years as public information officer for the borough of Fanwood, New Jersey.

Tom has written seven books including his latest, Wreck and Return: An EMT’s Journey Into and Out of Darkness, a novel based on his dual life as a New York news producer and volunteer EMT in NJ. The novel’s protagonist Griffin Ambrose, navigates his dual life with the help of alcohol which leads to disaster. Tom will speak to the College Club about his experiences as a CBS news producer, NJ EMT, author and podcaster.
