Police Pursuit Through 3 Union County Towns Ends With Crash
A man and a woman were arrested after leading Scotch Plains Police on a chase before crashing in Springfield.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — Two people were arrested following a police chase through three Union County towns, Scotch Plains Police report.
On March 4 shortly after midnight, Scotch Plains Patrolman Jason Everitt noticed a 2015 White Jeep Cherokee driving aggressively on Route 22 Eastbound.
Everitt tried to stop the vehicle, which ignored him and a vehicle pursuit ensued, police reported.

The vehicle drove eastbound into Mountainside and eventually Springfield. The pursuit was terminated due to the manner in which the vehicle was being operated and a short time later the vehicle crashed, police reported.
Arrested at the scene was Zahir Dupiche, 18, of Newark. He was charged with second degree eluding and hindering apprehension.

Also arrested was Emrona George, 18, of Irvington. She was charged with hindering apprehension.
Both parties were transported back to headquarters and processed.
Patrolman Everitt was assisted by Patrolman Damian Serafin and members of Mountainside and Springfield Police departments.
