Rabbi Joachim Prinz: Newark Faith Leader and Civil Rights Activist
A film screening explores Prinz's work, and an accompanying workshop guides participants in fashioning their own social justice mindset.

Joachim Prinz was a prominent Newark rabbi, a refugee from Hitler’s Germany, and a Civil Rights activist, who was an organizer of the August 28, 1963 March on Washington. Rabbi Prinz marched alongside Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as an ally.
On Sunday, September 17, Social Justice Matters, Inc., in partnership with R Squared Productions and Temple Sholom will screen “I Shall Not be Silent,” a documentary film about Rabbi Prinz. A workshop that will synthesize the content of the film will follow. Participants will be led through a social identity education process to identify and explore each of their own multiple social identities. The concept of being an ally will be explored. The group will then begin to consider how each individual can work for social justice, inspired by the example of Rabbi Prinz.
A limited number of seats are available, free of charge, to community members who would like to attend the film and workshop. Please register by emailing lsm@socialjusticematters, or by cutting and pasting this link into your browser:
