Scotch Plains-Fanwood MLK Day of Service planned for Monday, Jan. 19.

The 17th annual Scotch Plains-Fanwood MLK Day of Service will take place on Monday, Jan. 19, and begin with a 10 a.m. opening ceremony at the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA (1340 Martine Ave., Scotch Plains), followed by volunteer service projects throughout the community.

Created by volunteers for volunteers, this day is a local celebration of the interwoven and compassionate community we have created together. The opening program will include musical
performances, inspiring words and teachings, Step and Double Dutch performances, and the presentation of the Scotch Plains-Fanwood MLK Day of Service Award.

Local volunteer opportunities for children, adults, and families will take place between 11am and 5:00pm at several locations throughout the community. Below is a full list of community service projects and donation drives. Once you find a project you are interested in, click through to see
