Scotch Plains Locals Asked To Clear Fire Hydrants

The Scotch Plains Fire Department is asking resident to help them out by adopting a fire hydrant on their street.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — The Scotch Plains Fire Department is asking residents to help them out by adopting a fire hydrant on their street.

Residents are asked to shovel the area 3 feet around each side so that the fire department can access it and hook up quickly in the event of an emergency.

"Establishing a permanent water supply is extremely critical to fire suppression activities, and the faster we have this, the safer it will be for our fire fighters," Scotch Plains Fire Department stated.
