Scotch Plains Man Arrested For Shoplifting In Watchung

Multiple shoplifting incidents were reported recently at stores in the Watchung Square Mall on Route 22 West.

WATCHUNG, NJ — Multiple shoplifting incidents were reported in Watchung recently including the arrest of a Scotch Plains man.

On April 26 at 8:56 p.m., Leon Golding, 49, of Scotch Plains was arrested following a shoplifting investigation at DSW Shoes on Route 22 West, Watchung Police reported.

Golding was charged with shoplifting sneakers totaling $74.94. Golding removed the sneakers off the shelf and placed it inside his sweatshirt. Golding then attempted to exit the store, failing to make payment, police reported.

He was issued a summonses for shoplifting and released with a court date.

On April 29 at 1:03 p.m.: DSW Shows on Route 22 West report twp shoplifters who fled from the store with merchandise. The suspects were described as an older black female and a black male who fled with $491 worth of women's shows. Police are investigating.

On April 25 at 6:09 p.m.: Stop and Shop on Route 22 West reported a shoplifter who fled from the store with merchandise on April 24. The suspect was described as a black male wearing jeans, a black hooded sweatshirt and an orange safety vest. The suspect was seen removing $192 worth of razor blades from display before exiting the store. Police are investigating.

On April 29 at 1:05 a.m.: Jennifer Ortiz, 20, of North Plainfield was arrested following a traffic stop due to failure to stop for a stop sign while exiting the Blue Star Mall onto Route 22 West. While speaking with Ortiz, an odor of raw marijuana was observed emanating from inside the vehicle. A search of the car found several nuggets of raw marijuana and a blunt raw type cigar inside a frosty cup in the rear seat. Ortiz claimed ownership of the marijuana and was arrested. She was transported to police headquarters where she was processed and issued summonses with a court date.

On April 29 at 10:36 p.m.: Kirils Nistuns, 27, of Watchung was arrested following a police investigation of a noise complaint at 151 Sunlit Drive. He was transported to headquarters for processing. He was charged with obstructing, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, maintaining a nuisance and criminal mischief. He was served his criminal summonses but not photographed due to his violent behavior.

On May 1 at 12 a.m.: Tprang Gardner, 22, of Irvington was arrested at the Somerville Police Department and failed to post her $500 bail for an outstanding warrant out of Watchung Municipal Court. Gardner was transported and lodged into Somerset County Jail in lieu of bail and given a new court date in Watchung.

On April 27 at 7:56 p.m.: Emanuel Noguera, 25, of Plainfield was arrested following a traffic stop on Hillcrest Road for having an active warrant out of Green Brook Municipal Court for $500. Noguera was transported to police headquarters, processed and released after posting bail.

On April 26 at 8:58 p.m.: Andre Stanley, 53, of South Plainfield was arrested for outstanding warrants out of South Plainfield for $339 and $539 following a shoplifting investigation at DSW Shoes on Route 22 West. Stanley was found to not be involved in the shoplifting incident and was transported to police headquarters for processed. He was released ROR by South Plainfield Municipal Court.
