Scotch Plains Man Had Baseball Bat During Road Rage Incident

A Scotch Plains man was arrested after he got out of his car with a baseball bat during a road rage incident in Westfield on Saturday.

WESTFIELD, NJ — A Scotch Plains man was arrested after he pulled a baseball bat during a road rage incident in Westfield on Saturday.

Marc Sorkin, 50, was arrested on Jan. 20 at 3:14 p.m. by Westfield Police following a motor vehicle stop related to an incident that occurred at the intersection of Springfield Ave. and East Broad St., Westfield Police Sgt. Michael Walsh confirmed.

A witness at the scene reported that Sorkin got out of his car with a baseball bat at the left turn light at the intersection. Multiple people then called 911 as a result.

No injuries were reported.

Sorkin was charged with simple assault, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose and possession of a weapon for unlawful use, according to Walsh.

He was transported to Westfield Police Headquarters where he was processed and released on a summons.
