Scotch Plains Public Library Offers Consumer Health Information
Become an empowered health care consumer.

Staying current with medical advances and information sources can inform our health care decisions and empower us to communicate effectively with the professionals and systems we rely on. While the challenge to keep up can be daunting, Scotch Plains Public Library can help you become an engaged and aware health care consumer.
Scotch Plains Public Library is proud to have librarian Lisa Thornton supporting the needs of consumers for accurate and relevant health information. She has been nationally recognized by the Medical Library Association (MLA) for earning the Level 1 Consumer Health Information Specialization (CHIS) certificate. Earning a CHIS certificate shows a commitment to offering quality consumer health information services and to staying current with developments in consumer health information resources, technologies, and services. It does not authorize the certificate holder to offer medical recommendations, endorsements or approval.
Community members are invited to make an appointment to work with Ms. Thornton on Thursday afternoons by calling (908) 322-5007, x204. We cannot accommodate walk-ins. Priority will be given to Scotch Plains and Fanwood residents.
