Sixth Bomb Threat Received at Union County School

School plans to host parent and community forum to hear locals' concerns

For the sixth time in recent weeks, schools in Westfield have been evacuated after receiving bomb threats.

The most recent was yesterday, Nov. 23 at 8:20 a.m., according to tapinto.net.

The bomb threats have been received at Westlake School, Lamberts Mill Academy and Hillcrest Academy South, which are all part of the Union County Educational Services complex at 1571 Lamberts Mill Road.

Each time the Westfield Police and Union County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad Team have responded.

“I recognize these incidents have been extremely disruptive to our students, staff and the educational programs,” said Superintendent Terry Foppert. “The evacuations have also placed unnecessary demands on our local law enforcement agencies. However, I want to emphasize that the ongoing investigation will continue until we resolve this matter.”

Foppert has met law enforcement officials to discuss the investigation and review their crisis response procedures.

The school is also in the process of scheduling a parent and community forum to provide a venue for locals to share their concerns.
