SP-F Track Stars Meet for County Relay Champs

The relays continue on Friday.

Track and field stars from across Union County gathered in Westfield on Thursday for day one of the county's varsity relay championship.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood High and Union Catholic's teams scored many notable finishes. Here's a look at the results:

In girls distance medley, SP-F's Erin Pierce, Isabel Crystal, Becca Kreyer and Kathleen Leeper came in third with six points and a time of 12:57.11.

In boys distance medley, Union Catholic's Kevin Mulligan, Evan Gingrich, Matt O'Donnell and DJ Thornton came in second with eight points and a time of 10:36.81. SP-F's Alex Parker, Bobby Evans, Matt Alfano and Brandon Wheeler came in fourth with four points and a time of 10:53.64.

In the girls 4x100 meter relay, Union Catholic's Iris Pegerson, Alexis Cubbage, Taylar Campbell and Jasmine Holder came in sixth at 52.44 with one point. SP-F's Camille Handy, Christine Charles, Hailee Sciara and Osazenoriuwa Ebose came in seventh at 53.07.

In the boys 4x100 meter relay, Union Catholic's Braeden Rembert, Michael Veiksans, Mike DeAngelis and Allen Eke came in at fifth at 45.18 in with two points.

In the girls 400-meter hurdles relay, SP-F's Avia Shadmi came in ninth at 1:11.76. Leah Salituro came in 19th at 1:14.14. Alanna Salituro came in 29th at 1:16.69.

In the boys 400-meter hurdles relay, Union Catholic's Brandon Kelly came in ninth at 59.95 with 0.66 points. Daniel Cruz came in 11th at 1:00.36 with 0.66 points, and Brian Flores came in 26th at 1:02.77 with 0.66 points. SP-F's Bill Thomas came in 33rd at 1:05.35; Mike Parada came in 34th at 1:07.29. Moussa Channaoi came in 35th at 1:07.50.

In the girls 1600 sprint medley, Union Catholic's Alexis Cubbage, Iris Pegerson, Taylar Campbell and Jenna Socci came in fifth at 4:26.65 with two points. SP-F's Isabel Crystal, Camille Handy, Christine Charles and Justine Valdes came in 11th at 4:38.76.

In boys 1600 sprint medley, Union Catholic's Allen Eke, Michael Veiksans, Raymond Hyman and Evan Gingrich came in fourth at 3:38.03 with four points.

In girls high jump relay, SP-F's Sarah Canfield tied for second with 5-00.00 and 1.33 points. Emily Nagourney came in 16th with 4-06.00 and 1.33 points. Camille Handy came in 24th with 4-04.00 and 1.33 points.

In the boys shot put relay, Union Catholic's AJ Hypollite came in 12th at 42-11.25 and 0.33 points; Marty Davidson came in 21st at 40-06.75 and 0.33 points and Andrew Campbell came in 26th at 39-06.00 and 0.33 points. SP-F's Sebastian Valdes came in 13th at 42-11.00 and 0.66 points. Mike Tufaro came in 16th at 41-05.00 and 0.66 points. Jordan Clausen came in 20th at 40-07.50 and 0.66 points.

In girls discus throw relay, SP-F's Danielle Schweizer came in first at 95-08 with 3.33 points, followed by Kim Wenson at 95-07 with 3.33 points. Erin Brown came in sixth at 87-01 with 3.33 points. Union Catholic's Jordan Doherty came in 19th at 74-00; Brionna Belk came in 35th at 65-11; and Jasmine Ramos came in 43rd at 60-03.

In boys javelin throw relay, SP-F's Frank Mellana came in first at 188-09 with 3.33 points. Jordan Clausen came in 13th at 140-05 with 3.33 points, and Alex Daboub came in 27th at 112-04 with 3.33 points. Union Catholic's Andrew Campbell came in 26th at 112-10, and Tim Connell came in 32nd at 105-11.

In girls pole vault relay, SP-F's Alanna Salituro came in fifth at 7-06.00 with two points. Avia Shadmi came in seventh at 6-06.00 with two points.

In girls long jump relay, Sarah Canfield came in third at 16-09.50 with 3.33 points. Emily Nagourney came in sixth at 15-11.75 with 3.33 points. Christine Charles came in 14th at 15-00.25 with 3.33 points.

In boys long jump relay, Union Catholic's Alex Sarkodie came in second at 21-00.50 with 2.66 points. Jamaad Nash came in 12th at 19-04.00 and 2.66 points, and Kevin Polt followed at 19-03.50 and 2.66 points.
