Union County Men Charged With Weapon, Drug Possession: Police

A search of the car revealed marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a loaded .22 caliber Beretta semi-auto handgun: police

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — Two Union County men and a juvenile were arrested and charged with weapon and drug possession in East Brunswick, police report.

On Oct. 19 at approximately 11:56 p.m., East Brunswick Ptl. Ryan Welch stopped a 1995 Honda Accord which was occupied by the three males near Rt. 18 and Cindy Way.

Welch reported detecting the odor of marijuana from inside the vehicle and a search revealed a quantity of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a loaded .22 caliber Beretta semi-auto handgun.

The two adults, James George, 19, and Alfonso Lyles, 26, both of Plainfield were charged and transported to the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center in lieu of bail, $30,000 for Lyles and $25,000 for George, according to East Brunswick Police.

The juvenile, who was also charged, was released to his mother.
